Egmond lies southwest of Alkmaar in North Holland and is part of the municipality of Bergen. It is known for its history with the noble House of Egmond, the castle ruins, the Slotkapel, the historic colony houses, the dune “sea village” landscape, and the J.C.J. van Speyk lighthouse. Sports enthusiasts flock to the Egmond Half Marathon and the Egmond–Pier–Egmond mountain bike race.
