Egmond aan den Hoef, like Egmond aan Zee and Egmond-Binnen, is a village in the municipality of Bergen in North Holland and counts just under four thousand residents. It borders the dunes and the Egmondermeer polder, only two kilometres from the beach. The dunes here are lighter and more open, with calcium-rich sand that nurtures different vegetation and numerous pools where toads and salamanders thrive.
