Egmond is known for its beautiful sandy beaches, cozy terraces, and numerous charming shops, but also offers expansive forests, dunes, and heathland perfect for walking and cycling. From late March to early May you can admire the many flower fields in this wonderful area. In short, Egmond is a delightful destination where young and old alike will have a great time.

The beautiful city of Alkmaar, the cheese capital, is just a 15-minute drive away, where you can shop, relax on one of the many terraces, take a city walk, or join a canal cruise through Alkmaar's waterways.

Egmond aan den Hoef

Egmond aan den Hoef, like Egmond aan Zee and Egmond-Binnen, is a village in the municipality of Bergen in North Holland and counts just under four thousand residents. It borders the dunes and the Egmondermeer polder, only two kilometres from the beach. The dunes here are lighter and more open, with calcium-rich sand that nurtures different vegetation and numerous pools where toads and salamanders thrive. The area’s dune “sea village” landscape is renowned, and in spring the bulb fields burst into colour.

The surroundings are ideal for walking, cycling, beach days, and relaxed holidays. Highlights include the remains of Slot op den Hoef with its chapel, the bronze statue of Lamoral of Egmont, and the 1923 Catholic church Margarita Maria Alacoque—well worth a visit.
