Because Egmond offers activities and experiences year-round.
A short walk or cycle from the villa leads into the renowned Egmond dunes with Scottish Highland cattle, wild horses, abundant birdlife, romantic dune lakes, unique flora, and above all endless car-free walking and cycling paths. Head north to reach Bergen aan Zee and Schoorl with the Netherlands' largest dune area, or the picturesque artists' village Bergen-Binnen; southward lies Egmond-Binnen with its historic Benedictine abbey and Castricum. The PWN Visitor Centre shares insights into local flora and fauna and offers tips for excursions. Here you will find peace and quiet in many places, far from everyday hustle.

Egmond aan Zee also charms with its welcoming village atmosphere, excellent restaurants, and the impressive J.C.J. van Speijk lighthouse, as well as numerous special sporting, musical, and cultural
events and much more throughout the year.
Last but not least, the beautiful historic cheese city of Alkmaar is close enough for a day trip, even by bike. From April through September you can watch the traditional cheese carriers every Friday from 10:00 a.m. as they shoulder heavy cheeses to the weighing house, browse the inviting shopping streets of the old town, or rent a boat for a serene cruise to see Alkmaar from a new perspective. Do not miss the renowned Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar with masterpieces from the Golden Age to modern Dutch art from the Bergen School and annually changing exhibitions.

In short, Egmond is worth visiting again and again.

Map & surroundings

Egmond aan den Hoef

Egmond aan den Hoef, like Egmond aan Zee and Egmond-Binnen, is a village in the municipality of Bergen in North Holland and counts just under four thousand residents. It borders the dunes and the Egmondermeer polder, only two kilometres from the beach. The dunes here are lighter and more open, with calcium-rich sand that nurtures different vegetation and numerous pools where toads and salamanders thrive. The area’s dune “sea village” landscape is renowned, and in spring the bulb fields burst into colour.

The surroundings are ideal for walking, cycling, beach days, and relaxed holidays. Highlights include the remains of Slot op den Hoef with its chapel, the bronze statue of Lamoral of Egmont, and the 1923 Catholic church Margarita Maria Alacoque—well worth a visit.
