Tip-2 Dunes

The dunes of Egmond

There is much to see and discover in the dunes of Egmond: spectacular birds, Scottish Highland cattle, cute rabbits, beautiful plants and endless cycle and footpaths. Above all, the dune area is a great place to relax and unwind, to get away from the hustle and bustle of the village centre of Egmond aan Zee.

From the edge of the village you can walk or cycle straight into Het Noordhollands Duinreservaat (The North Holland Dune Reserve).  Miles and miles of car-free hiking and cycling trails lead you through natural beauty to Bergen aan Zee and Schoorl in a northern direction and to Egmond Binnen and Castricum in a southern direction. Signs clearly tell you where (marked) trails go to and how long they are. Dogs are permitted in the dunes, however they must be kept on a leash. There are a few off-leash dog areas in the dunes where dogs are allowed to run free.  Reserve entrance signs will inform you of the most important rules.

Hiking routes can be downloaded from the website www.wandelnetwerknoordholland.nl
